The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Miami Marlins on Thursday, but may have suffered a bigger loss.
Dodgers MVP candidate Mookie Betts left the game with a leg injury and was later seen leaving Lone Depot Park on crutches, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. X-raysreportedly showedno abnormalities in his feet.
Betts was removed from the game in the bottom of the eighth inning, but it appears that the injury occurred in the first at-bat of the game. The only foul ball Betts appears to have hit off his footin the first inningwas this pitch. Considering that Betts played the next seven innings in right field, the injury must have progressed slowly.
Betts went 1-for-2 with two walks and one run batted in.

Betts, a former MVP, has been arguably the best player in the majors for the past month or two.
Since August 1, he enters Thursday at .422/.490/.758 with 11 home runs, adding some spice to the NL MVP race, which at one time appeared to be sewn up for Ronald Acuña Jr.Betts has been a Dodger this season He has played in 133 of 139 games.
Betts' injury was just one of the notable points in the Dodgers' 10-1 win. The Dodgers' victory was not without its own problems, as rookie starting pitcher Ryan Pepiot, returning to the big leagues after Julio Uriaswas arrested for domestic violenceand placed on administrative leave, continued his perfect game into the seventh inning, only to be broken up by a single hit by Josh Bell.
